Olympic Music Festival
Saturday, September 06, 07 2014, 02:00pm
The Olympic Music Festival ends its 31st season of Concerts in the Barn. From its creation in 1984 as a summer home for the Philadelphia String Quartet, long-time Quartet in Residence at UW, the Olympic Music Festival has grown from a three-week chamber music concert series to a summer-long event, offering concerts every weekend from the end of June through the beginning of September. Located on an idyllic 55-acre farm on Washingtons beautiful Olympic Peninsula, the Festival attracts thousands of people each year. Chamber music concerts are held in an early 1900s dairy barn, which has been restored and converted into a performance hall with exceptional natural acoustics. Concerts take place Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.
Audience members have the option of sitting in the barn on padded church pews or hay bales, or outside on the lawn, where the music is broadcast and concertgoers can enjoy a leisurely picnic while listening to the performance.
